Wortley u13’s V Dinnington u13’s 27/03/2022
Wortley RUFC u13’s hosted Dinnington u13’s at Wortley this morning. Clear blue skies and the morning sun made it a fine day for Rugby.
Wortley took an early lead following a solo try by Ryan Smith, playing outside centre, scoring straight from the kick off. This was quickly followed by two tries by No 8 George Inglis. Dinnington, a bit shell shocked, got back into the game scoring two tries in succession.
Dinnington’s formidable pack dominated the scrums and rucks making the Wortley forwards work hard for all contestable balls. The Dinnington team continued to press Wortley and the team showed some real warrior spirit, displayed particularly in the contact area with Tom Squires and James Askew preventing Dinnington breaking the Wortley line. Wortley capitalised on some minor mistakes and scored several more times with Ben and Finn both going over the line.
The game was well contested and the Dinnington team continued to play with real spirit giving an excellent account of themselves. Wortley winger, James Williams, plucked a high pass out of the air to score in the corner and Jake Plaistow then finished off a straight race, ball in hand, from the half way line to touchdown, cementing the win for Wortley.
A great day of rugby and a big thank you to Dinnington for a game played in excellent spirits. A thank you also to the parents for making this game happen on Mother's Day.
